We were at the hospital for a long time. In the meantime, the surfers made it to the south point and waited. They knew they had a long time to wait. They waited for about 4 hours before they got a ride back in. Duke and I waited with them.
I made my way out of the swell and cut between the swimmers and the breakers and headed to the south point. It was a narrow channel with one really good wave and I was hoping to catch it. As I approached I looked up to see the 15 foot wave and the surfer get swept toward the point. I went into the channel and surfed every decent wave that I could. I surfed 5 or 6 good waves before a wave rolled under me and I bobbled on my board. I thought I was going to face plant and hit the white line in the sand. I was in the white line before I could let go of the board and rolled to shore. I hit my head and was taken to hospital. I woke up in ICU. I was dazed and the white line and sand were very blurry.
I bought one. Broke in half after 3 months. The damage started with cracks going side ways.I contacted them and I did get a new sent for free.Surf it for 4 weeks. The same kind of cracks are starting again. Same spot. Around the middle.
When I use my ankle to push the tail, I feel a little movement in the board. I have to bend my leg to make it look even better. The board has not warped, and the flex is ok, but I suspect there is a small crack in the foam core. The board is still usable, but I have not seen the cracks grow any further. I will keep it and try to surf it, but I am not sure whether I can handle the constant flexing, because I have the suspicion that it will end up breaking one day.
If your board is made of fiberglass, you can also use epoxy to repair the cracks. Do not use any type of abrasive cleaners. Just clean the area with soap and water, then sand the spot lightly with fine sandpaper or emery cloth. Apply the resin, cure it in the sun for at least a week, and smooth the whole area. You may also have to sand off the resin that oozes out of the cracks after curing. 827ec27edc
